For eight long months he endured darkness, torture, and the loss of everything he had built. When a judge finally ordered his release and declared him innocent, Charles walked out of prison with nothing left no possessions, no security, and a deeply traumatized family. With no choice but to flee, Charles and his family began a long and painful journey across countries, crossing jungles, rivers, and borders in search of safety.
